Consorzio Promovetro Murano is a consortium for the promotion and protection of artistic Murano glass. It was founded in 1985 and it currently represents about 50 artisan and industrial glass companies. It collaborates with the main local institutions and organizations. Promovetro’s main activities are the participation to the most important trade fairs, both on a national and international level, the organization of business missions, workshops and seminars, the organization of promotional exhibitions, the supply of business services to its associated companies, for any kind of necessity. Promovetro is also the managing authority for the Vetro Artistico® Murano trademark, introduced by the Regione del Veneto and governed by regional Law no. 70 of the 23rd December 1994, the only legally recognised certification which guarantees the origin of the product. The use of the Vetro Artistico® Murano trademark follows some specifics guidelines and it can be placed only on those art products realised on the island of Murano, using only methods compatible with the tradition that was born there. Since 2016 Promovetro has been nominated by the Regione del Veneto as representative authority of the Murano Glass and Venice Glass Clusters.
