After the success of the exhibition and catalogue devoted to the glass designed by Carlo Scarpa for Venini, Le Stanze del Vetro project, promoted by Fondazione Giorgio Cini and Pentagram Stiftung, is about to enter a new phase.
The next Venini-related exhibition will focus on the accomplishments of sculptor Napoleone Martinuzzi, who worked for the renowned Murano glassmaker between 1925 and 1931, producing there impressive objects, from those in transparent blown glass to the unprecedented pulegosi (vases and cacti made in a heavy glass full of minute bubbles), to colorful opaque vases and animals.
In preparation for this major exhibition, which will open next September on the San Giorgio Maggiore Island in Venice, we are currently carrying out an extensive search so as to find all the pieces by Martinuzzi that still survive.
We would be most grateful if you could let us know of any glass by Martinuzzi you own or know about, or of any documents related to his activity for Venini.
