The Malibran Theatre accommodates the first Venetian of ' Powder Her Face' , work in two actions op. 14 of the British composer Thomas Adès on a booklet of Philip Hensher, inspired to the tragic and scandalous life of Margaret Campbell duchess of Argyll (1912-1993), gone in scene for the first time to the Cheltenham Music Festival 1 July 1995.
Daughter of a Scottish exponent of the great international world, Margaret Campbell (1912-1993) emerged to detail notoriety in year 1963. During the cause of divorce from the third husband, the duct of Argyll, rough photos and mischievous history started to circulate on her account creating scandal.
The Thomas Adès work, represented for the first time to the Cheltenham Music Festival 1 July 1995, was considered unavailable to the wireless transmission cause of the language and the sexual references. It inquires instead with rationality the difficult relationship between mental health, loving passion and physical satisfaction.
