L'opera da tre soldi was represented for the first time in 1928 in the Schiffbauerdamm theatre to Berlin. The author put in scene the world of the poor one, with provocative intention in the cares of the public bourgeois, that he would have had to be shocked forehead the personages and their language.

The ideal public for Brecht had to be the workers of the industries. In fact the title provocatively indicated the price of the ticket entrance, but paradoxicalally the workers didn't go to the rappresentazioni, while the public bourgeois instead was the happened one, with surprise and disappointment of the author.
