FEEM Lecture: An economist grapples with catastrophic climate change

Introduction by Carlo Carraro, FEEM and Ca' Foscari University of Venice. FEEM is pleased to announce a lecture by Prof. Weitzman, one of the two awardees of FEEM 20th Anniversary Prize in Environmental Economics, that will take place at FEEM's offices Venice on June 1, 2011.

Prof. Weitzman will deliver a Lecture entitled 'AN ECONOMIST GRAPPLES WITH CATASTROPHIC CLIMATE CHANGE' and will tackle the economics of catastrophic climate change from a theoretical perspective.

The FEEM 20th Anniversary Prize, aimed to reward a researcher or a group of researchers who have most significantly contributed to the development of the field of environmental and resource economics over the last 20 years, was assigned in June 2010 to Prof. Martin L. Weitzman, Harvard University, and to Resources for the Future (RFF), USA. The ceremony took place during a plenary session of the Fourth World Congress of Environmental and Resource Economists in Montreal, Canada.

Prof. Martin L. Weitzman was acknowledged to be one of the most important economists working in the field of environmental economics, and among the most influential economists worldwide in a range of theoretical issues applied also to the environmental field.
