For the past twenty-eight years the Brenta River district has held Riviera Fiorita, the Riviera in Flower, on the second Sunday of September. This year's festivity features cultural and historic tradition and succeeds in presenting us a good insight into 18th century Venice, as on Saturday 10 September between Stra and Fiesso, the Pageant Committee presents the 'Venetian Feast in Honour of Doge Pisani'. Alvise Pisani and his countless guests will be entertained with music, zany clowns and other typical stage characters of the Venetian Commedia dell'Arte, and period dances and minuets. However, Sunday 11 September is the great day for folklore and for appreciating and for becoming acquainted with the entire Riviera. Starting from Villa Nazionale Pisani, where the traditional meeting between the Doge and Henri III - King of France - takes place, residents and tourists can follow the historic water pageant from Stra, through Fiesso, Dolo, and Mira, and then on to Malcontenta where the prize-giving for the regatta boats takes place amid fun in the piazza and the savouring of typical local dishes.
